Overview of the surgery:
Isolated neck lift is a type of plastic surgery use to correct localized fat under the
chin and neck skin. Depending on the severity of the skin excess, the procedure may
involve only liposuction alone, liposuction plus tightening of the neck muscle under
the chin or everything plus skin excision behind the ears. Your surgeon will discuss
with you about surgical options to match your expectation.
A small incision will do under the chin as an access for neck liposuction and/or neck
muscle tightening. If you have severe loose skin, an incision behind the ears may be
necessary to perform skin re-draping around the neck.

There are risks with any kind of surgery, and cosmetic procedures are no exception.
In choosing to undergo a neck lift, the patient risks infection and possible allergic
reaction to the anesthesia; the patient may also experience excessive scarring from
the neck lift and other such complications. The occurrence of these effects is very
rare, however, and can be reduced further with the choice of an experienced doctor.
The patient should be sure to tell his or her doctor about any existing medical
condition or medication being taken.
Postoperatively patients may have a drain in overnight as well as neck wrappings.
After this is removed, patients are often required to wear a removable chin strap for
several weeks. Sutures are usually removed 7-14 days after surgery.

medications taken both prescribed and non-prescribed), physical
examination, and laboratory tests will be performed during consultation.
Avoid smoking for about 3-4 weeks prior to surgery, as nicotine interferes

Taking any medications should be avoided such as hormones, anticoagulants,
anabolic steroids and supplements at least 4-6 weeks to prevent complicating
medical factors prior to surgery, and also avoid taking aspirin, anti-
inflammatory drugs and herbal supplements as they can increase bleeding.
