Recovery
Recovery (major surgery)
- You will normally stay at the hospital for 1-2 days following the procedure
- Stitches will typically be removed 5-7 days after surgery
- After opening the wound Should make an incision every day until the day of the cut
- Don’t let the surgical wound get wet until stitches have been removed
- Smoking should not be resumed until at least 3-4 weeks after surgery
- Refrain from drinking alcohol for 3-4 weeks after surgery
- Don’t take any vitamins, collagen or iron supplements for 4 weeks
- Don’t take aspirin, anti-depressants, diet pills or pain killers for 3-4 weeks after surgery unless prescribed by your doctor
- You can eat normally except for pickled foods
- Take all your medication as prescribed
- If you experience any allergic reactions or symptoms such as redness, itching, nausea, vomiting or chest tightness, see a doctor immediately
- Avoid driving for the first 10-15 days
- You can resume your normal exercise routine 4 weeks after surgery
- If the wound area suddenly becomes red or swollen, consult your surgeon immediately

- Apply a cold compress on the wound 4 times a day during the first 1-3 days after surgery to reduce swelling.
